Sunday, October 18 and Monday, October 19

Join the Ohio Chapter of the American Liszt Society for its inaugural event. Ohio ALS Chapter president and faculty member Caroline Hong, society members and guest pianists will present two concerts on Sunday and a master class on Monday in celebration of Liszt’s October birthday.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18

Welcome Lecture, 4 p.m. – Professor Arved Ashby, musicology, will give a pre-concert talk entitled “The Two Liszts” and lead a panel discussion.

Concert I, 4:30 p.m. – James Tocco, University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, will play the entire Harmonies Poetiques et Religieusesimmediately following the lecture.

Concert II, 6:30 p.m. – with Ohio ALS officers and featured artists including Robert Shannon and Haewon Song, Oberlin Conservatory; Eugene Alcalay, Azusa Pacific University (formerly University of Wisconsin-Platteville); Ryan Behan, The Ohio State University; Tyrone Boyle, Ballet-Met; Michael Boyd, University of Toledo; R. Kent Cook, Illinois Wesleyan University; Mark De Zwaan, Indiana University; Matthew Gianforte and Meeyoun Park, Murray State University; Joel Hastings, Florida State University and Victor Yeh, Cleveland Institute of Music.

A reception will be held between the two concerts.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 19

Master Class, 10 a.m. – with guest pianist Dr. Eugene Alcalay, Azusa Pacific University. Master class will be held in Weigel Auditorium.

Pianist Lise de la Salle in Concert February 14

Chamber Music Columbus, now in its 67th season, Presents Pianist Lise de la Salle on Saturday, February 14 at 8 PM in the Southern Theatre.  Pre-concert interview with Ms de la Salle at 7:00 PM

26 year-old Lise de la Salle has established a reputation as one of today’s most exciting young artists, and as a musician of uncommon sensibility and maturity. She will
perform Johannes Brahms’s Theme and Variations in D minor, from Sextet in B-flat major, Op. 18, in the composer’s 1860 arrangement for piano; Maurice Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit; selections from Claude Debussy’s Préludes; and Brahms’s Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, Op. 24.

Christopher Durrenberger – An Evening of Mozart

Please join Christopher Durrenberger next Wednesday night for an evening of Mozart! This all-Amadeus program will be held on January 21 in Krieg Hall (Wittenberg University) at 7:30 pm; and will include collaborations with Lisa Grove (oboe), Richard York (clarinet), Joseph Hesseman (bassoon), Colvin Bear (horn), and Stephanie Price (viola).
