Open Forum: Let’s learn for each other!

Share one idea that you think has really helped in your teaching during the past few years. This “tip”could include bookkeeping, a way of expressing an idea, organization, parent relations, scheduling or technique. Maybe your idea will be exactly what someone else needs to hear!

Bring thoughts and questions you’d like to share with your colleagues, share something you’ve learned from teaching and being self-employed. It is an open forum-no presenter or specific agenda. Music swap, too! Bring music you’d like to swap. A book you don’t need could be just the book another teacher could use:)

Discussion of Dr. Vicki King’s “Playing the Piano Naturally”

A number of us had the good fortune of having Dr. King serve as our student’s Piano Guild judge, this past spring. Many received a copy of her book entitled, “Playing the Piano Naturally”. It is a straightforward, highly informative and concise 47 page book full of practical ideas on how to play effortlessly and naturally. As the cover of her book states: “Her ideas are simple and easy, you will say, “Why has nobody told me this before?”.

Join us for a lively forum about how to teach students to play tension free, as we discuss her ideas and your own!

IMTF Reminder

There will be an Independent Music Teacher’s Forum on Friday, February 6, from 9:30-11am.  It is being held at Mozart’s Piano Cafe, near the intersection of Morse Rd. and North High Street

We will be discussing how we incorporate Music Theory in our weekly lessons.
If you can, bring along any materials or ideas to share.
Janice Cook will make a brief presentation about how she teaches Music Theory.

An RSVP is requested.
Please let Holly Huber know, via email at hollymyc@gmail.com, if you are planning to attend.  In case of inclement weather, she will contact you by 8:30 am on Friday if the event is being cancelled.
