Scale Olympics Ear Training Rhythmic Dictation

In order to help you prepare your students for the Rhythmic Dictation part of the new Ear Training test, we are providing two practice tests which you may use with students. This will help you and your students understand the format. In addition, we have provided some examples of rhythmic dictation for Levels 4-8, to help your students learn to notate the rhythm they hear. We are excited to offer the new Ear-Training event, and hope you will find the curriculum useful and fun for your students. You can use this curriculum with ANY students, not just the ones who will participate in Scale Olympics October 22.

Scale Olympics Practice Ear Training Tests

Scale Olympics Co-Chair Katherine Bede is pleased to share with you mock/practice tests for Levels 2 and 4 of Ear Training.  Because this is a new event, we hope these practice tests will help teachers get an understanding of how the tests are formatted, and be more comfortable as they prepare their students for this new Scale Olympics event.

Scale Olympics CHANGE IN DATE & HANDBOOK

Due to an internal scheduling conflict, Otterbein University has changed the date of Scale Olympics to Saturday, October 22, 2016.

Repeat:  Scale Olympics will NOT be held on October 15 as original announced.  It WILL be held on October 22.

We know this is going to make many of you unhappy. But there is nothing we can do about it.

Please let your students know right away. Hopefully, they will still be able to participate.
And hopefully, those of you who have already agreed to volunteer will still be able to do so.

The Handbook has been updated with a change to the fingering chart for Triads and Inversions.
The updated Handbook can be found on our website:
