Buckeye Auditions

The Buckeye Auditions event is OhioMTA’s premier competition for our most outstanding students. Each of Ohio’s eight Districts holds a preliminary competition in March, April or early May leading to a statewide competition on June 15/16 at Malone University.  Winners are required to compete at the state level!  See below.

OhioMTA Member Teachers: Current membership dues for MTNA, OhioMTA and the District must be paid in full before the application deadline. An MTNA/OhioMTA member with student membership status is not eligible to enter students.
Non-member Teachers: See fee schedule below.

DISTRICT PRELIMINARIES
Location: Otterbein University
Date: Saturday, May 5, 2018
Deadline: Tuesday, April 3, 2018 (Postmarked)
Late applications will NOT be accepted.

Teachers are to proofread the student applications and send one check to cover all students entered. Include student and parent email addresses on applications, since all communication with students and teachers will be via email where possible. Applicants will receive notification 2 to 3 weeks before the competition.

Classification: Senior Ages 15-18; Junior Ages 12-14; Elementary Ages 9-11
Time Limits: Senior 9-18 minutes; Junior 6–12 minutes; Elementary 5–10 minutes
Categories: Piano, Strings, Voice, Woodwinds & Brass, Guitar
Prizes: Senior $100; Junior $75; Elementary $50

Fees:
Senior $50 members; $100 non-members
Junior $45 members; $90 non-members
Elementary $40 members; $80 non-members

STATE FINALS – REQUIRED FOR WINNERS OF THE DISTRICT AUDITION
Date: June 15 (rehearsals) and June 16 (competition), 2018
Location: Malone University – Canton, OH
Prizes: Senior $200; Junior $150; Elementary $100
State Final application fees for students of OhioMTA members will be paid by the District.
Non-member fees are: Senior $120; Junior $100; Elementary $80.
