North Broadway UMC seeking Interim Organist

North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 E. North Broadway, Columbus, is seeking to secure an Interim Organist for the period of February 1 through May 31, 2015. Compensation to be commensurate with training and experience.

The organist’s principal responsibilities will include playing for the 11 AM traditional service on Sunday mornings, as organist and as accompanist for the Chancel Choir. Attendance as rehearsal accompanist for Thursday evening Chancel Choir rehearsals is also required.

The instrument in North Broadway’s newly-renovated Sanctuary is a 1972 Casavant consisting of 49 ranks, 40 stops, full inter-division couplers, multiple memory levels and MIDI module. The grand piano is a 1972 Grotrian Steinweg.

Specific responsibilities also include:
Participation in a collaborative worship planning process with the Senior Pastor, Director of Music, and worship planning team members
Playing of the Sanctuary organ for additional services, which may include weddings, funerals, and Holy Week services, to be negotiated separately

Qualifications Desired:
A lively and passionate faith
A degree or demonstrated period of study in organ performance
Superb ability as an organist with extensive experience with pipe organs
Church musician experience and a demonstrated knowledge of liturgical worship
Experience and success as a collaborative team member in a congregational setting
