Dr. Michael Benson, NCTM, serves as Department Chair for Music, Coordinator of Keyboard Studies, and the Malone University Preparatory Program Director.

He Is active in Ohio Music Teachers Association (OhioMTA), serving as the Buckeye Auditions Chairperson and host. During the Fall semester of 2018, he completed a term as Vice President for Membership on the OhioMTA Executive Board. Other offices include serving for two terms as the East Central Division Commissioner for Professional Certification and on the Editorial Board for MTNA’s e-Journal.

Dr. Benson holds degrees in piano performance from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where he studied piano with Dr. Robert Roux and The University of Texas at Austin, where he studied piano and piano pedagogy with Professors Martha Hilley, Sophia Gilmson, and Nancy Garrett.

Location: Graves Piano and Organ Company
Event: Professor Benson will work with up to six students. Teachers are allowed one student entrant, unless there are open spaces after the deadline. Students may
play any single piece or movement of their choice. Beginners through advanced level are welcome to perform.
Fees: $25.00 for students of OMTA members; $50.00 for students of Non-members; auditors attend free.
