I’d like to invite you to our Independent Music Teachers Forum this Wednesday the 17th, at 10:00 am at the Worthington Le Chatelaine – 627 High Street in Worthington, OH 43085. Come have coffee and French pastries and chat with us! Arrive a few minutes early, so you have time to get your breakfast and your seat. It’s informal.

This is the one event throughout the year that is for teachers to exchange ideas. Independent teaching can feel somewhat isolated from our colleagues. We will discuss all aspects of organization. A few of us will present our recent experiences with larger organization projects. Then we’ll be open for sharing. There may be a few Marie Kondo references!

The second hour, or until we run out of topics, we’ll discuss how organization affects our physical and mental well-being. We’ll follow up on wellness discussions from the fall conference.

There is no need to RSVP. Please come, even if you can only stay for part of it! We’d love to have you join us for the teacher’s event that is all about US! See you soon.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming Independent Music Teachers Forum!

On Friday, November 6th from 10:00-11:30 am, Suzanne Newcomb, IMTF chair, will lead a lively discussion about teaching during our historic COVID-19 quarantine. We’ll talk about what has worked with our students online and what hasn’t. Discussion topics will include technology that is helpful for the most effective lessons, teaching materials that have achieved success, and how to appropriately check in on the mental health and well-being of your students during this challenging time. Breakout rooms will be utilized for smaller group discussions. Our unique group of district teachers will be able to have an exchange of ideas as well as some much needed fellowship. The Winter Independent Music Teachers Forum has been rescheduled to April 9 (Tuesday) at 9:30 a.m. at Mozart’s Cafe – 4784 North High Street – Columbus, OH 43214.

Please join us for discussion of using toys and imagery for young beginners to establish healthy technique and sound production.  Save the date and bring your ideas to share.
